On 22 September 2012, the Shapers from the Port Louis Hub met up with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance& Economic Development, Xavier Luc Duval. The purpose of that meeting was simple: bring youth concerns forward in the National Budget, which is due in November.

This meeting was the first of its kind - young people have never before been given the chance to express their opinion on the budget and to give their suggestions. The Shapers proposed several inputs, ranging from youth entrepreneurship to environmental taxes for sustainability, from education to positioning Mauritius as a health hub by investing in research in auto-immune diseases.

We hope that our Hub continues to give such ideas and increase young people's visibility and participation in decisions and matters of high importance!
