On Saturday, July 29th, the Jeddah Hub launched the first edition of the Techpreneurship Sprint. It is an intensive 12-hour Technology Entrepreneurship event where participants get to pitch their tech startup idea in 60 seconds, vote on the best 5-8 ideas and then to develop the ideas further in teams with mentorship support and guidance. At the end of the day, each team will have 5 minutes to pitch their developed idea to a panel of judges for a chance to win prizes that will help them develop their idea further. This event was organized by the Jeddah Global Shapers in partnership with Prince Mohammad Bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship (MBSC).
Over 40 participants attended the first of its kind event with 20 participants pitched an idea in the first hour of the event. The ideas were narrowed down to 5 through voting and teams were formed to work on developing the ideas with the guidance of mentors.
At the end of the day, the 5 teams had to present to a panel of judges. The top three winning teams will receive in-kind prizes to allow them to bring their idea to life such as: entry to a start-up bootcamp by a local accelerator, branding workshops and access to co-working and meeting room spaces.
The initiative was lead by Jeddah Shapers, Emon Abdul Shakoor and Mounir Kabbara.
