
# Climate Reality Project Incubator

From ideas to real-world impact.


## What is it?

The Climate Reality Project Incubator is designed for Global Shaper hubs to plan meaningful and impactful hub projects addressing climate change in their communities. Participants will learn the necessary skills and tools to transform their ideas into equitable, sustainable, and enduring project. Hub teams that complete the incubator in full will receive a microgrant of up to 3,000 USD to kick-start the project.

### New ideas

If you want to tackle climate change issues such as deforestation, policy, oceans, food waste, transportation, and more.


### Existing projects

Incubate your existing project idea to improve, change, or scale to achieve even more impact.


### Committed teams

Hubs with at least three representatives participating fully and implement the project.

## Abidjan Hub, Côte d’Ivoire: Tree Planting Project

To address the ongoing legacy of deforestation from the cocoa industry in Côte d’Ivoire, the Abidjan Hub will partner with three local schools and local environmental organizations to organize tree planting events over the next year. They aim to plant a total of 500 trees in the community and to teach 500 primary school students about sustainable forest management. The hub also plans to work with the local school municipality to establish a yearly tree planting and care program with students.

## Daejeon Hub, South Korea: NbS Testbed in Daejeon

The Daejeon Hub aims to increase awareness and successful case studies of nature-based solutions to climate change in their city by working with partners across scientific institutions, environmental organizations, and their local governments to research, identify, and pilot a nature-based solution in their city. They plan to plant 1,000 saplings or trees as part of their nature-based solution and to host an exhibit with a local bookstore about their project to promote city-wide understanding of nature-based solutions and their applicability in Daejeon.

## Washington, D.C. USA: The Green Piggy Bank – Climate Finance for and by Shapers

To increase knowledge on domestic and international climate finance and financing a just transition, the Washington, DC Hub will host a speaking series comprised of four to six events where young professionals interested in climate finance will have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of leading players in climate advocacy and financing. The hub plans to invite speakers from entities such as the US government, IMF, and World Bank and promote the series to DC-based community organizations and young professionals in the climate justice space.
