Impact

3E INTL FAIR 2023

Problem Statement

The economic repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic have particularly affected the employment prospects for foreigners in Shanghai and Chinese students returning from abroad. As we observe a global shift and a trend of talent repatriation, the essential challenge we face is creating pathways that connect these skilled individuals with local economic opportunities, thereby aiding in Shanghai's post-pandemic economic recovery.

Target Group

Foreign nationals in Shanghai seeking job opportunities.

Chinese graduates, particularly those with international academic exposure, aspiring to commence their professional journeys in Shanghai.

Multinational corporations and local enterprises in Shanghai eager to engage with a diverse and international talent pool.

Proposed Solution and Hub Activities

To address these challenges, we propose a three-pillar approach:

  • Career Fair: We plan to organize an extensive career fair, inviting over 300 multinational companies based in Shanghai, providing a platform for direct engagement between employers and job seekers.

  • Governmental Insights: We aim to host panels and seminars featuring government officials to offer insights on favorable policies and market trends, supporting career development for foreign and returning talents.

  • Entrepreneurship Development: Social Entrepreneurship Competition: This initiative will identify and support potential startups and innovative business concepts. Through this competition, participants will receive professional advice to further develop their business plans.

Results

  • Corporate Engagement: Almost 300 multinational and local companies in Shanghai were brought together under the initiative.

  • Job Opportunities: More than 1,200 job positions were provided both online and offline, attracting over 5,000 individuals who actively participated in online and offline recruitment processes.

  • Social Entrepreneurship Competition: This competition drew the attention of 236 participants from 57 countries and regions. They proposed a diverse set of 73 project plans spanning multiple fields. This initiative played a significant role in helping many foreign nationals and students who studied abroad to establish and deeply root themselves in Shanghai's economic and social fabric.
