3Shelf Library Project

Problem Statement: Transforming public spaces into hubs of knowledge and ensuring equal educational opportunities for children from all backgrounds. By establishing free libraries in children's parks, the Kohima Hub aims to impact communities by promoting literacy, curiosity, and community engagement. This project signifies a significant step towards a future where access to education is a fundamental right for every child, building a foundation for a more inclusive and enlightened society.

Target Group: Teenagers as well as individuals ranging from ages 12 to 40 who are actively seeking opportunities for reading and self-education.

Proposed Solution: The proposed solution for the 3Shelf Library initiative is to establish free libraries in children's parks, creating accessible hubs of knowledge within public spaces. These libraries will offer a diverse range of reading materials suitable for teenagers and individuals aged 12 to 40, catering to their educational and self-improvement needs. Additionally, the project aims to provide a conducive environment for reading and learning, fostering a sense of community engagement and promoting literacy and curiosity among the target audience.

Hub Activities: The hub will be constructing the library shelves to house the books and actively solicit book donations from the community to contribute to the library's collection. This collaborative effort ensures the availability of diverse reading materials to cater to diverse educational needs. In addition to building library shelves and collecting book donations, the hub's activities will include leveraging social media platforms and engaging with friends and family to expand outreach and encourage contributions to the project. By utilizing social media channels and personal networks, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the project's goals and inspire broader community involvement in supporting literacy and education.

Project Objectives:

  • The project's short-term goal is to establish and maintain park libraries by building shelves and continuously contributing books to these libraries, serving as a sustainable resource for the community.

  • In the long-term, the project aims to raise awareness and advocate for education as a fundamental right for all individuals, regardless of background or socioeconomic status. By demonstrating the impact of the project on local communities, it seeks to inspire others to support the initiative and donate books, thereby promoting the redistribution of books and encouraging individuals to contribute to the educational enrichment of others. Overall, the project seeks to create a lasting impact on both the local community and broader society by promoting access to education and fostering a culture of support and generosity.
