A Million Trees 2020

The Barbadian Prime Minister Hon. Mia Mottley in her speech at the UN Climate Action Summit 2019, said that the Alliance Of Small Island States (AOSIS), need to reduce temperature rises in our area of the world by 1.5 degrees, just to survive.
In commitment to decreasing rises permanently by 2 degrees, each AOSIS Member has committed to the Six Ambition Package. The 3rd Ambition, is a debt for nature swap agreement, in which our PM has committed Barbados to planting 1 million trees on the 166 square miles of Barbados. This is a mammoth undertaking for a population of 287,025 people, so she has urged the diaspora to return home in 2020, to assist.
We, the Global Shapers Bridgetown Hub plan to run tree planting drives immediately, to assist in our country reaching the AOSIS goal.
