Program Overview.

 

The AFRICA DIGITAL GOVERNANCE SUMMIT (ADGS) is a flagship Continental Program hosted by Global Shapers Port-Harcourt Hub – in collaboration with Global Shapers Hubs in Nigeria, and the African Region – which brings together innovative thinkers, industry leaders, decision makers and leading youth organizations to discuss transformative ideas, and design policy solutions that shape the development and use of  technology systems in today’s world.

 

In line with the mission of the Global Shapers community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, we strive to promote Action, Dialogue and Change. Our primary goal is to involve young people in solving the most challenging problems of this evolving digital era. By leveraging the tools, resources and network of Global Shapers Community, as well as partnerships from youth-led organizations in Africa, this summit will become a disruptive tool for change, and catalyst for a world of unending possibilities. 

 

ADGS2023 will foster meaningful connections between stakeholders from key industries, including: technology, international development, governance and public policy. The summit will inspire a new generation of thinkers, doers, changemakers, innovators and policymakers who rise to the occasion of solving tough societal problems by designing policy solutions,   and activating digital technology roadmaps for the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030. 

 

Africa Digital Governance Summit 2023 is the first-of-its-kind virtual roundtable hosted by Global Shapers Port-Harcourt Hub, and henceforth, will be a strategic platform for knowledge-sharing, skills transfer, and transformational conversations focused on emerging industry trends and governance frameworks that are responsive, inclusive, and supportive of the changing work landscape – especially from the perspectives of young people at local, national and regional parts of Africa.

 

 

Introduction of ADGS20223 Theme

 

The summit aims to facilitate conversations around striking a balance between innovation and regulation, ensuring that technology is harnessed in a manner that is accountable, transparent, and beneficial for all stakeholders. It highlights the transformative potential of technology in promoting good governance practices that prioritize trust, accountability, and resilience.

 

Also, ADGS2023 will address the importance of building digital infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and ensuring equitable access to technology-enabled governance. Guest Speakers will share valuable insights on how technology can be harnessed to address societal challenges, improve public service delivery, and foster citizen engagement.

 

We need a balanced narrative on what could go wrong when technology outpaces legal safeguards and government oversight – in order to proffer strategic solutions that help society to overcome present and future challenges! By charting a path for responsible innovation, the summit seeks to inspire discussions, collaborations, and the exchange of ideas that can shape the future of governance in the digital era.
