After 5

Younger generations today are more creative and connected than ever before. By tackling skills gaps, Kuala Lumpur hub aims to form an enabling ecosystem for inclusive education and relevant skills growth in this city. We envisions a place where all people have access to quality education and the opportunity to utilise 21st century skills for good. "After 5" is a replicable community-based leadership and education model providing schools with complimentary lessons in areas such as personal development, communication, financial literacy and healthy living. The model complements existing efforts by public, private and social sector in under-privileged communities development especially programs targeting audience from the school students between aged 10 to 17 in any underprivileged community. After 5 model can be taken up by local communities and universities and adapt it according to the demographics and cultural context of the community.

To date, After 5 has conducted over 25 workshops across 12 local public schools with more than 400 students on topics related to healthy eating, communication skills and personality development, and awareness of career and education paths after graduation.

The project intends to scale up and make available the modules on an online platform for access to teachers and students outside of Kuala Lumpur, as a complementary resource to the public education curriculum.
