Awareness about the fashion industry: Fast fashion vs slow fashion

The Global Shapers Bilbao Hub believes that fashion is one of the key drivers in our current society, since everybody must wear something. Hence, everyone has a small fraction of responsibility on the evolution of this sector, and this is important to highlight since sometimes, the consumers aren’t aware of the impact of their behaviors.

The Hub is working to develop 3 different activities to meet the above mentioned goal:

1. During Fashion Revolution Week (April 22 – 28): The Hub will put some clothes collection points in different parts of Bilbao, so that people can donate some of their clothes they don’t use anymore and reuse them. This will be done in cooperation with Koopera, a local cloth gathering partner.

2. After Fashion Revolution Week (April 29 – May 5):

a. Giant panels or big signs in every university of the city will be installed. They will all have a big question as a title: What can you do to stop fast fashion? The respondents (young students, professors, people visiting the universities) will display various options to tackle this issue, and ideally, give some practical tips.

b. Round table meeting – fast fashion vs slow fashion. Business sector representatives and experts from academia will be gathered to discuss this trend, both from the theoretical and real aspect.

All these activities will be enhanced by promotion done by influencers, as well as some fun fact messages that will be placed across the city.
