Songadh Project was one of the most ambitious yet coveted projects of Surat Hub. The Shapers learned through their sources that there was an orphanage turned residential hostel with 40 kids, mostly from the tribal communities nearby in Songadh. The orphanage lacked basic amenities like toilets and was struggling to get a constant water supply. Shapers crowdsourced funding and, through donations, raised around 1 lakh. A contractor was hired, building material was bought by Shapers, and the team managed to build 8 toilets for the kids. The Hub also set up a hand pump for the kids to fix the water issue. Stationery was also supplied to the kids through crowdfunding. Seeing the smile on these kids face was the reward we reaped for our efforts.
