Bridging Gaps

Problem Statement: Economic disparity in Islamabad is creating a divide, leading to resentment in the masses.

Individuals belonging to lower-income neighborhoods need access to opportunities for civic engagement and growth in order to be empowered. Islamabad Hub is collaborating with underprivileged schools to conduct awareness and training sessions with children and their families.

Target Group: Marginalized communities

Proposed Solution: To raise awareness, connecting schools in marginalized areas with the mainstream audience. For both local community and shapers, it is a fruitful activity. It helps minimize the gap between classes’ whereas shapers get a new perspective about the life an working class citizen.

Activities: To make these sessions productive, we have different thematic workshops i.e. Hygiene, Menstrual Hygiene, Bullying, Abuse, Counselling etc . The introductory session was conducted in Jan with an underprivileged school. In May, a session was conducted on Hygiene.

Short-term goals/results: Provision of opportunities to marginalized communities to learn and grow as individuals.

Long-term change: Improved living of standard and knowledge levels within marginalized communities.

Available Metrics:

  • Reach out to 500 plus kids of marginalized communities through awareness sessions and programs.

  • Onboarded 20 plus shapers in project activities and workshops

  • Organize 10 activity based learning sessions

To date, the hub has achieved the following:

  • 3 training sessions held over the course of 3 hours with 150 students

  • 12 Shapers participated in the sessions
