Carbon Audit

Through participation in local energy audit workshops in 2021, Apia Shapers identified the lack of trained and qualified individuals who are capable of quantifying, monitoring, reporting, and validating greenhouse gas emissions to support a low carbon future for Samoa. Identifying this knowledge gap, and the saving capacity of the local business industry, they began a CARBON AUDIT project to measure and record greenhouse gas emissions of an organization or building infrastructure within a defined boundary. The aim of this project is to examine and improve the energy consumption and infrastructure of commercial businesses in Samoa thereby reducing business carbon emissions. Through globally recognized diploma training with the GHG Management Institute the project team is working on gaining the professional competency to perform carbon audits adhering to international standards.
