Career Counselling for All (CC4All)

Executive Summary

Islamabad is home to 1,380+ schools (46% making up public institutions), yet most students barring elite/private institutions lack access to pertinent career counselling services. The dearth of guidance forces thousands of talented but underserved students to depend on familial advice and friends to inform their career aspirations. Furthermore, high educational attainment remains low with only ~16% of adults achieving undergraduate/master's and diploma qualifications in Islamabad - indicative of high-drop our rates after 12th grade, limited oppurtunity awareness, academic disinterest, conundrums regarding choice of subject, and/or academic choices misaligned with personal interests.

The employment landscape in Islamabad also remains bleak, with only 42% of the working-age population employed, dropping to a mere 18% for females. The informal job sector dominates at 60%, highlighting a significant lack of formal employment oppurtunities (Pakistan Labour Force Survey, 2021). Policymakers have failed to bridge the gap in employment generation, and youth job market preparedness, especially considering that 54% population in Islamabad is under the age of 25.

Overall, there exists a large untapped market of talented but underserved youth who lack essential career guidance, awareness about formal education oppurtunities and scholarships, and the necessary skills to thrive in the job market, reflecting a pressing need for comprehensive interventions.

CC4All aims to contribute to the progress in reskilling the future with a pertinent focus on youth oppurtunities. The target audiences who can benefit from these seminars are  students pursuing Matriculation, Intermediate, and O/A Levels. This hub project also aims at reaching out to professionals highly skilled in leadership and career counseling to reach the bigger goal.
