Champions of Innovation 4.0

The Lugano Hub with help of 20 young professionals for the first time investigated the Industries of the Ticino area for their readiness for the First Industrial Revolution: how adapting and willing to change they are in order to become the 4.0 Companies of the future. The ultimate goal was to stimulate discussion and raise awareness about the changes that technology is pushing – such as new ways of working – and share global benchmarks that could lead companies towards innovation. A survey was developed to map the companies from Ticino and their best practices in relation to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. During the analysis, each participant was assigned a random identification number in order to guarantee the impartiality of the evaluation. The data was guaranteed to be undisclosed and in accordance with the provisions of the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act. Upon completion, the questionnaire was tested by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Services of the Canton Ticino (Cc-Ti), by a selected company and by two professionals from the corporate world. The information provided by the participants were then summarized in eight synthetic indicators:

●Business strategy, transparency and communication

●Supplier management

●Environmental sustainability

●Welfare of employees and equal opportunities

●Innovation

●Fintech

●Cybersecurity

●Job security

The questionnaire was then sent to 380 selected local companies. Between the 15% that completed it, winners that awarded during a stimulating event at Lugano Arte Cultura with a presence of Lugano mayor, Marco Borradori.
