Problem Statement:

The number of refugees in Florianopolis has significantly increased over the past few years. There are more than 15 thousands immigrants/refugees from Venezuela, Haiti and other countries in the city and with the little support from the government, local NGOs remain the main source of support for this vulnerable population.

Target Group:

Immigrants/refugees in Florianopolis.

Proposed Solution:

Organize fundraising activities to support local NGOs.

Hub Activities:

The Global Shapers Florianopolis Hub decided to support a local NGO called “Círculo de Hospitalidade" (https://circulosdehospitalidade.org/).

The hub designed and executed an arts, cultural and artisanal products fair and raised 23 thousand reais for the NGO. The fair, which took place inside the Technological Center of the state, was a great opportunity to facilitate interaction between refugees and local people, approximation of cultures and also an opportunity to generate income for participants. More than 23 refugees participated and approximately 300 people engaged in purchasing some product/service. In addition, the R$ 23,000 money raised made it possible for the NGO to purchase infrastructure and improve the space.
