Climate Action Unit - Clubs

The Global Shapers Windhoek Hub Climate Unit aims to educate, mobilize, and build capacity for youth to be active advocates for climate action. This is achieved through the establishment of Climate Change Clubs in high schools and tertiary institutions around Windhoek, hosting a high school climate projects competition, and conducting educational workshops.

The main barrier for youth to be part of climate activism is that they often do not know how to get involved. This project seeks to bridge that gap by providing the necessary education, mobilization efforts, and capacity-building opportunities for youth to actively engage in climate advocacy.

The project primarily targets high school and tertiary institution students in Windhoek, Namibia. The proposed solution involves establishing Climate Change Clubs in high schools and tertiary institutions. These clubs will serve as platforms for education, mobilization, and capacity-building for youth to become active climate advocates. Additionally, the project includes hosting a high school climate projects competition and conducting educational workshops.

Some of the activiites the hub has done are established:

  • Climate Change Clubs in high schools and tertiary institutions.

  • Launch of a high school climate projects competition.

  • Hosting educational workshops on climate action.

Throught these activities that goal is to increase climate awareness and action among youth in Windhoek and cultivate a sustained culture of climate advocacy in participating institutions.
