Curhat Dibawah Payung is an initiative inspired by ‘Sidewalk Talk’ in the USA. It is based on the notion that to fight back against loneliness, we need easily available connection, especially through conversations with strangers on the street and hearing out their sidewalk confessions. Similarly, Confessions Under The Umbrella engages with the community by initiating conversations about issues facing the youth today with the objective of taking a holistic approach to understanding the problems faced by job-seekers, employees and employers in Brunei.

The aims of this event were:

• To provide a platform for the general public to 'curhat' (express and share) issues related to employment


• To raise awareness about labour rights and identifying signs of labour exploitation


• To provide tips on career paths and progression


• To listen and provide emotional support when required


• To promote a humanistic discussion on employment issues with the general public

The impact is measured by the number of volunteers trained to engage with members of the public; the number of individuals successfully engaged and the data collected from the conversations.
