Cooking School

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Children/Teenagers often don’t know how to cook and consume fast-food.

TARGET GROUP:

Underprivileged children in Munich.

PROPOSED SOLUTION:

We teach kids and teenagers how to prepare amazing meals with quality products. Why not bake fluffy brioche burger buns and make an umami-bomb ketchup with organic tomatoes? We show that self-made burgers from scratch are cheaper, healthier and tastier than most fast-food or convenience products. Why not show your love for friends and family by preparing self-made ravioli with cream cheese and wild garlic filling? Cooking as a social experience. Cooking as a healthy and cost-saving hobby. Cooking as a means to express creativity and get closer to the environment. That is basically our message, while also providing background information about sustainable agriculture, seasonality and other related topics.

HUB ACTIVITIES:

Acquisition of partners (restaurants, chefs, test-kitchens) and target-group (schools → parents, teachers, kids)

The first challenge is that food consumption is often detached from cooking. Especially in the industrialized world many people use convenience products and eat food that they did not prepare themselves. The consequences are well-known in the form of diabetes, obesity and other illnesses.

The second challenge, which is reinforced by the first challenge, is that people eating ready-made meals mostly do not know where the ingredients come from and how they were grown/raised. This lack of awareness is an enabler for unsustainable mass-production which leads to soil erosion, loss of wildlife diversity, inadequate animal husbandry and other negative socio-economic as well as ecological consequences.
