Count Me In!

During the late autumn to winter months in Denmark, notably between November to February, a lot of Copenhageners tend to stay indoors due to the cold and dreary weather outside. It is noted that most Copenhageners tend to consider the cold, rainy weather during winter as one of the things they hate the most about Denmark. Most Danes who have lived in Denmark for most of their life already have strong social circles within Denmark, enabling them to organize and attend social activities with friends and family to get through the winter. Engaging in social activities during the aforementioned months is important as it reduces the possibilities of known issues which arise during winter such as loneliness, depression or seasonal affective disorder (SAD). These diseases are more prevalent in the winter and those who do not have social circles in Denmark could be vulnerable to them. This project is intended to bring Copenhageners together based on common interests such as playing board games, an English book reading club etc. so that new social circles can be built. In the month of February, the Copenhagen Hub will organize 8 free social group events as part of the project, namely:

  1. Board Game Session 1

  2. Visit to the Art Museum

  3. Quiz Session 1

  4. Watch Chelsea vs Manchester United

  5. Board Game Session 2

  6. English Book Reading Club

  7. Watch Real Madrid vs Manchester City

  8. Quiz Session 2

The Hub has advertised this project on different Facebook groups dedicated to Copenhageners and have already received considerable interest from different parts of Copenhagen to attend such events.

Goals:

A solution is bringing people together through their common interests. With most Copenhageners being active on Facebook and being a part of numerous different Facebook groups, this project will create a survey (such as a Google Form) with different group activities (such as board games, food tastings etc.) that will be shared on various Facebook groups for Copenhagen. The group members may answer the survey based on their own personal interests and from the survey results, the Hub will match locals together based on their common interests and organize events based on that interest that will bring these locals together.
