COVID-19 Vaccination Acceleration

In September 2021, the Jakarta Hub decided to help with COVID-19 vaccination acceleration in Indonesia as the vaccination coverage was lower than what was targeted by the WHO. According to Ministry of Health data, several areas had less than 30% vaccination coverage. At that time, Jakarta had reached 98.1% of coverage for the COVID-19 first dose vaccine, while West Nusa Tenggara was only 26.4%. The hub scheduled several meetings with the local government of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, to solidify the need to increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage.

In October, the hub had a meeting with the provincial head of the COVID task force to gain insight into how they were doing and what Shapers could do to accelerate the process. At that time, vaccines and vaccinators were enough since everything was provided by the government. However, funding was needed to help with data entry and to mobilize people in rural/remote areas by providing transportation fees, drivers, gas, and PPE.

Through the Kita Bisa crowdfunding platform, the hub succeeded in providing 5 million rupiahs, and with the help of Kimia Farma company, human resources were provided to help with data input.

Although this was slightly delayed due to an increase in Omicron cases and Kimia Farma went on total lockdown for several weeks, after rigorous follow-up, the hub could finally help coordinate the local government's data input.
