Impact

Decídete México Guadalajara

Problem Statement

The issue lies in the strikingly low engagement of young voters in Jalisco's elections, with participation rates of merely 37.2% for ages 20-24, 35.1% for ages 25-29, and 38.9% for ages 30-34 during the 2021 elections. Simultaneously, Jalisco experienced an overall decline in voter turnout, plummeting to 47% in 2021 compared to 58% in 2018 and 52% in 2015. Additionally, the INE Jalisco anticipates 293,000 pending voter identification renewals for the upcoming 2024 electoral process.

Target Group

People between 18 and 34 years old in Mexico.

Proposed Solution

We aim to educate individuals who are first-time voters or have never engaged in elections by focusing on workshops conducted by experts. The objective is to offer guidance on informed voting, familiarizing participants with the electoral process, their duties as citizens, and highlighting the advantages of civic engagement, emphasizing its impact on our country.

Hub Activities

Our objective is to empower young individuals by conducting a sequence of three workshops in April, May, and June at various institutions and universities. These workshops aim to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for effective voting, equipping them with essential information to make informed decisions during the 2024 elections.

Short and Long-term Goals

Short-term objectives involve establishing partnerships with universities, acquiring sponsorships, and identifying skilled workshop leaders. In the long run, our aim is to engage a collective of 100 students from universities and individuals who either abstained from voting previously or are gearing up as first-time voters.

Available Metrics

Our objective is to attract 100 participants to the workshops, with an expectation that a minimum of 70% among them will actively cast their votes.

Collaborators

Universities such as ITESO, as well as business groups and private sector companies.
