Decídete México Querétaro

Problem Statement

Low political engagement among young people in Mexico, particularly in Querétaro, poses a substantial barrier to building a resilient and just democracy. The 2018 presidential elections saw a mere 17% participation among individuals aged 18 to 29, underscoring the critical need for increased civic involvement.

Target Group

Young people between 18 and 29 years old in Mexico.

Proposed Solution

Proposing a focus on first-time voters and those who haven't participated in elections before, we aim to educate through workshops led by experts. The goal is to provide information on informed voting, acquainting individuals with the electoral process, their responsibilities as citizens, and the benefits of civic participation, emphasizing how it makes a difference in our country.

Hub Activities

Through a series of three workshops scheduled for March, April, and June at universities, our goal is to empower young individuals with the knowledge and skills to exercise their first vote effectively, equipping them with essential information for making informed decisions in the 2024 elections.

Short and Long-term Result/Goals

In the short term, we aim to form alliances with universities, secure sponsors, and identify expert workshop facilitators. Over the long term, our goal is to reach a total of 150 students from three different universities who will be first-time voters

Available Metrics

We aim to have 150 participants in the workshops across three different universities. We anticipate that out of those 150 participants, at least 60% will actively go to vote.

Collaborators

Universities such as Anahuac, ITESM, EBC, Humanitas, as well as business groups like AEM and private sector companies.
