Impact

Decídete México San Luis Potosí

Problem Statement

Low political engagement among young people in Mexico, particularly in San Luis Potosí, 50% of the voting population are considered youth, most of whom are considered disengaged. Additionally, among those, 300k youth are elegible to vote for the first time and the National Elections Institute is looking for ways to encourage their civic participation.

Target Group

Young people between 18 and 29 years old in SLP, especially first-time voters and those who haven't participated in elections before.

Proposed Solution

We aim to educate through workshops led by experts. The goal is to provide information on informed voting, acquainting individuals with the electoral process, their responsibilities as citizens, and the benefits of civic engagement emphasizing how it makes a difference in our country. Ultimately, empowering local youth with the knowledge and skills to exercise their first vote effectively, equipping them with essential information for making informed decisions in the 2024 elections.

Hub Activities

Through a series of a minimum of 6 events (including workshops, conferences & forums) and virtual content scheduled from January-June at universities and local theaters. Featuring fact-checking experts, youth and campaign leaders.

Short & Long-term Results/Goals

In the short term, we aim to reach first-time voters to participate responsibly in the 2024 election. Over the long term, our goal is to maintain and increase young civic engagement in other political actions throughout the 2024-2030 administration.

Available Metrics

We expect to have at least 150 participants in the workshops across three different universities.

We anticipate that out of those 150 participants, a minimum of 60% will actively go to vote.

Collaborators

At the moment: universities private & public, Instituto Nacional Electoral, local businesses (venues), local organization for youth in politics. Expected collaboration with: Consejo Estatal Electoral y de Participación Ciudadana CEEPAC, other industries in private sector.
