Impact

DIGITERATE

On the global scale, a number of international organizations and foundations have invested heavily in open educational resources (teaching, learning, and research materials in any medium, digital or otherwise) in support of secondary schools. A study carried out by the French Development Agency (AFD), the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Orange and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) shows that ICT in education in general, and mobile learning in particular, better prepares students for the rapidly changing work environment and offers a number of possible benefits including, access to low-cost teaching resources, added value compared to traditional teaching and a complementary solution for teacher training. Thus, in order to contribute to improving the quality of education and decreasing high unemployment levels in Nigeria, we are undertaking this project to provide secondary school students in low-income communities in Lagos State with necessary trainings and resources that will improve their chances of thriving in the modern world.
