The Discovery Crew project (formerly Shaper Friends) is a forum for young professionals and young people with intellectual disabilities in the Ottawa community interested in active citizenship. We establish and strengthen relationships between young professionals and young people with intellectual disabilities through meet-up events. These meet-ups bring together young people around shared interests and allow young professionals and young people with intellectual disabilities to grow their networks, make friends, and collaboratively develop solutions that allow all people to participate as active citizens. Ultimately, our project aims to tackle broader Ottawa community issues with a deeper focus on inclusive design and inclusive communities.
