Empowering Youth with Employability, Entrepreneurship and Economic Skills

Bulawayo's youth are brimming with potential yet face a bleak reality: a staggering youth unemployment rate of 52.2%. This crisis stems from a confluence of factors including lack of essential employability skills, lack of opportunities and lack of entrepreneurial support.

The project's target group are the youth in the community from school dropouts, unemployed degree holders, high school and tertiary students.

Providing a four phase approach, where the first phase seeks build the necessary employability skills like coding, website design, digital marketing, fundamental Microsoft and Google Suite, graphic design, presentations among other skills.

Phase 2 will be allowing participants to undergo a Work Readiness Bootcamp where they will learn interview skills, team building skills, leadership skills, reinventing their LinkedIn profiles and connecting to mentors.

Phase 3 is introducing our participants to a Skill Sharing Network, where they provide a particular service in exchange of learning a new skill instead of the traditional service provision in exchange of money.

Then lastly, we will hold an expo, and give students themed projects to work on as teams, applying what they have learnt and invite a panel of judges and key industry players who have the potential to adopt some of the project ideas that they would have presented. Hub activities include planning for the four phases, drafting MoUs, developing curriculum for the skills we will be offering, securing guest speakers for the various events, applying for grants and seeking financial funding from well-wishers. Short -term goals are to give hope to the unemployed youth in Bulawayo, and allow them to develop skills that sets them apart. The Long-term goals are to nurture and equip the youth to be at the forefront of change, creating their own employment and becoming entrepreneurs. Giving them a springboard from which they can spring off towards fulfilling untapped potential. The desired output is to impact at least 75% of the youth in Bulawayo, and ensure that each of those youth has at last on employability skill which will allow them to stand out.
