Manizales' high suicide rate is 8.7% per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the latest report from Territorial de Salud.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death in the world among young people and it is for this reason that we want to turn this situation around from the Manizales Hub.

Equipo de vida was created to join forces with Global Shapers and Academia de Vida (a social company dedicated to the prevention of suicide of school aged children) in order to influence the city's problems, through the activism of the young voices that make up the project.

Goals

Prevent the suicide of young people between 14 and 25 years of age in the city of Manizales.

Outcomes

We have been present in the different spaces of citizen participation to propose solutions and demand the implementation of public policies.

We have attended 5 events of the development plan:

• Departmental youth table


• Municipal table of youths of Manizales


• Municipal table of youth of Villamaría


• Manizales gender table


• Manizales Council Forum Agenda: Suicide.

We have joined hugs for life along with allies like ABRAZATÓN.

• Number of people impacted to date: 250

With the latest #SalvemosVidas campaign we achieved an impact of:

• 60 thousand people reached by the suicide prevention message from a person close to their circle.

Creation of a movement that will be coordinated by Academia de Vida with the support of Global Shapers.

Financing: We require 10 million pesos (3,000 USD) to respond to COVID for 6 months.
