eWaste-Hoarder

THIS INITIATIVE HAS ALREADY BEEN CLOSED.

Imagine a world, where resources are endless fueling our industrial progress, satisfying our consumer needs and prompting our technological advancements. In this world the phones, computers and other gadgets, which require change and updates almost every year, do not cause even a fraction of the natural destruction that they cause here and today. We can all agree that such a world would be ideal. Such a world is possible, and we know how to get there. We will do our part to bring this ideal to practice and further from the theory.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! This should be the approach towards any material that we are utilizing, as it has value and often recycle means reuse and reduce as well. Our eWaste-Hoarder project targets directly the “recycle” part of that slogan, while we are collaborating with organizations concentrating on the other two as well. Our mission is to involve and educate people in the processes and importance of electronic waste (WEEE/ e-waste) recycling. Ideally, that will increase the percentage of the e-waste collected and distributed for proper recycling programs within the Prague region of the Czech Republic.

The Prague Hub will engage the general public and involve them within the process of recycling, with the assistance of our local and international stakeholders from the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Our partners will sponsor us with materials, aid us to organize collection events and collections routes and provide small benefits to the public for their e-waste and their participation in our educational seminars. The direct and indirect benefits for our partners include the promotion and selling of their hard to sell merchandise, indirect promotion and market approach, and the good PR from taking part in such a project.

The project is straightforward and organized in 4 stages. The results from the completion of each stage and the project, will be disseminated with other organizations and the Hub is planning to expand it in the future and increase the collected and recycled e-waste. A similar structure can be applied for different sorts of unconventional waste as well and such initiatives can have a generally good impact on the recycling sector.
