Feed the Poor - Food and Ration Drives

Problem Statement: In Pakistan, half the population is below the poverty line. Ramzan is a religious month for Muslims whereby empathy and solidarity are greatly promoted.

Target Group: People below the poverty line

Proposed Solution: Raising awareness among the privileged community to come forward and help the people in need. We raise money from different individuals and organizations. We have a team of volunteers prepare meals on a regular basis. The food boxes are distributed amongst the poor community and in hospitals.

Activities: (a) Funds collection (b) Creating awareness (c) Preparing food boxes (d) Packing of food boxes (e) Identifying deserving families (f) Distribution of food to the poor

Short-term goals: Every year, we cater to the poor people and feed them with meals. Hundreds of families receive rations. Initially this project was for the month of Ramzan (The Islamic Month) but now it is done through out the year whenever possible.

Long-term change: Few families were provided with micro financing as a test so they can start earning. 60% of families are now able to earn their own bread and butter. A few failed but they are still in touch with us and we help them occasionally. We are developing a system to cater to these people through a mobile app and website which will have listing of families who need emergency funds not only to feed themselves but for health and education too.

Available Metrics: Every year, shapers contribute to this cause by raising funds, participating in food drives, raising awareness, and help in the process. Till now, we have catered to 600-700 families.
