Impact

Financial Literacy Educational Project - Children's Book Thessaloniki

1. Focus on children as a vulnerable group: Existing evidence shows that tailored financial knowledge support must start as early as possible to embed the knowledge of basic financial concepts comprehensively in the population;

2. Looking into priority areas of financial knowledge: to strengthen basic financial knowledge and ensure good budgeting, planning and saving practices, we focused on priority areas and followed the most recent evidence on the topic of Financial Literacy (OECD Survey);

3-Leveraging the Global Shapers Community: Project led by Global Shapers Lisbon Hub. However, the illustrations were done in a pan-European perspective and, besides publishing it in Portugal, for increased reach and impact, the project team is engaging with other hubs across the world, through translations and adaptations of the book.

The Thessaloniki Hub, with the support of a bank sponsor which is currently being secured and the Union of Banks in Greece is seeking to distribute this book for free to children in Thessaloniki, Western Macedonia, and Greece, via community events and engagements. We aim to have the sponsor selected and secured by December 2023 for project initiation and budgeting to take place in January 2024.
