Future Proof

The FutureProof2030 initiative forwards an inclusive, equitable, sustainable future for the Greater Vancouver Area through youth-driven inquiry with other youth.

The Greater Vancouver Area region is challenged by growing issues like housing affordability, high mobility costs, the opioid crisis, and climate change. These issues have a direct impact on the lives of residents, including youth. FutureProof seeks to elevate the voices of youth in addressing key questions like “How will Vancouver look in ten years?”, “How can Vancouver continue thriving while addressing these major challenges?” “How might we take advantage of opportunities such as the changing demographics or the role of technology in shaping the future of our city”? Participants will identify their own goals and FutureProof will work with them to create realistic plan to achieve those goals.

Short term goals include working with youths to create individual posters with 'Futureproofer' mentioning name, photo and goal for 2030, and to kickstart at least one youth-driven project.

Long term goals include inputting learnings from youth to key decision makers in the city, and establishing a Futureproof Fellowship young changemaker program.

Impact to date includes engaging over 20 youths in facilitated sessions, and producing a report summarizing insights from first facilitated engagement session.
