FutureShapers: Democratizing Venture Capital
Problem Statement: Global entrepreneurship hubs such as Silicon Valley in the USA or London in the UK have had the monopoly in Venture Capital investments for a long time, disregarding millions of entrepreneurs who couldn’t access the vast capital simply because of their location. Data shows that especially female founders and founders who belong to a minority also had a hard time financing their ventures through Venture Capital.
Our goal is creating a Silicon Valley-like network of founders from minorities and enable them access to digital content/knowledge sourced from industry leaders (VCs, think tanks etc.)
Target Group: Young people/ professionals/ entrepreneurs
Proposed Solution:
Phase 1
A shortlist of possible partners will be conducted and the Global Shapers Düsseldorf team will get in touch with them. As a result, it will be possible to determine touching points and decide on a written agreement. After that, a public post on social media will announce the opening for our first batch (10 founders), who will apply through a separate page.
Phase 2
In phase 2, the founders will go through 5 different content sessions. After that, they will have the chance to be introduced to investors and pitch their idea.
Hub Activities: Workshops, practical interdisciplinary courses and event series (content sessions)
Short & Long-Term Goals/Results:
Short-term impact
