More than 30 years ago when Lithuania was emerging from Post-Soviet space country went through major transformation from centrally planned economy to the capitalist one. As an unintended consequence such transformation left behind winners and losers with majority of society losing government subsidized jobs while few emerging enterprises collecting majority of economic proceeds from the newly emerged industries, that has caused tension and even disgust from the working class majority and businesses. Now, more than 30 years later, Lithuania is part of EU & NATO, has a liberal economy and its start-up and innovative sector is thriving. This economic growth, even though was inclusive and helped majority of society grow living standards hasn’t healed the scars of the early 90s.

Recognizing that businesses and enterprises still do have negative image and recognizing the fact that they have contributed significantly to the civic society and especially during COVID-19 crisis (donating money, equipment and expertise to the government combating the Pandemic) the Global Shapers Vilnius Hub created an open ended platform to elevate socially-responsible businesses, highlight their contributions and help the broader society to learn about the contributions of the private companies and thus heal the scars of the past while growing trust within broader society.
