Her Health

Women’s health and wellbeing is progressively being identified as a global health priority. The importance of addressing this topic is due to the fact that women are unique individuals whose significance must be equally celebrated as that of men.

The concept of “health” is not necessarily confined to women’s biological health but must include mental health, the effects of social pressure/stigma, and recognizing the options and information that are or should always be made available to them. It is also imperative that the society must understand the role that women play and bear the responsibilities of supporting women within the community. Hence, the HerHealth project was initiated to: create awareness and most importantly encourage open dialogue regarding women’s health, so that individuals in the community can make well-informed decisions.

This initiative started as a passion project among a few members of the hub to further the informal conversation on the astounding lack of awareness on women’s sexual health and has now developed into a broader concept, garnering more members within the hub to join the project. The scope of the project has also expanded to not only include women’s reproductive health but also address issues such as mental health, domestic violence, social stigma/expectations, selfcare, significance of Comprehensive Sexuality education in schools and much more.

So far, the HerHealth team has put out content on menstruation, safe sex and the features of a healthy relationship. Going forward, we aspire to put out content on topics that are well researched and share our own stories and experiences.
