Homebound Workshop Series

Problem Statement:

The re-emergence of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam due to the community outbreak has pushed the country into a (partial) lockdown. This has pushed people to transition from the traditional way of learning and working in physical spaces to a virtual environment. This shift has also brought about new sets of challenges including anxieties caused by endless news reports and viral messages, adapting to online learning and working tools, increased reliance on online resources, and even mental health challenges caused by the blurred boundary between work and personal life.

Activities:

To adapt to this shift and the issues accompanying it, Global Shapers Community Bandar Seri Begawan Hub has conducted a 3-week workshop series from 18 September 2021 – 3 October 2021 virtually via Zoom. The series was targeted to any individual aiming to learn how to effectively adapt to a new normal including distinguishing fake news, combating vaccine hesitancy, finding reliable resources online and redefining productivity. The Homebound workshop series was divided into three key themes:

  1. Combating misinformation

  2. Online resources

  3. Work and productivity

Goal:

To provide participants with the skills to adapt to the new normal.

Objectives:

  • Equip participants with the skills to identify fake news

  • Teach participants skills to find reliable online resources

  • Help participants navigate through online productivity tools

  • Guide participants on ways to establish boundaries to achieve work-life balance
