How Are You Today

In observance of World Mental Health Day, the Davao Hub mounted an interactive installation in SM Lanang Premier from October 16 - October 31, 2018. The installation, called “How Are You Today?,” invited the public to an introspect through a series of questions and an interactive board that allows a person to “weave” their feelings using colorful thread. The installation also printed mental health hotlines that encouraged people to seek professional care for counseling and other services.

More than 350 people were able to participate and “weave” and identify their current moods. This created a collective picture in the community that showed an overview of people's general disposition. The people were also informed of the professional mental health services available for them, without the stigma. The installation was accessible to the public for more than 2 weeks. Social media and newspaper coverage also amplified the message of the project. Published on the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The goal of the project was to popularize mental health conversations in creative platforms and to decrease social stigma attached to mental health & discrimination among those who are currently seeking professional mental health services. There was a decrease in social stigma attached to mental health and discrimination among those who are currently seeking professional health. Popularizing conversations on mental health through creative channels invited more people to examine and promote mental well being. The hub hopes that through this experiential pop-up, we will able to acquire the power to educate and engage with the young people about the vitally important issues of mental health.
