Inclusion Forward

In Germany, many refugee women and women with migratory background are still not being naturally considered as an equal part of society. On the contrary, they often have to cope with proving and justifying their abilities and talents to be equally and fairly evaluated to men and non-migrant people. Moreover, they are forced to attend integration courses which are not safe spaces to really integrate in the host country.

The target group represent female migrants/refugees at the age of 18-33 years, living in the close area of Dusseldorf who face difficulties when trying to enter the job market, as well as in their cultural and social lives.

What is the project's proposed solution? Our approach can be clustered into three main topics:

1. Supporting equal opportunities: we want to upskill the abilities and skills reducing the present gap of inequality. $

2. Fostering empowerment: we fight for women to exercise their economic, social, and political rights.

3. Creating safety and peace: we want to create safe spaces for the inclusion of refugee and migrant woman. These primary objectives we aim to reach by offering 1 year mentorship programs to our target group, including in-person/online workshops that provide content and tools to support the mentees across our goals (1-3).

Our specific actions are:

1. Project planning and acquiring funding to host the workshop formats (done)

2. Creating an individual website for information and mentee applications (done)

3. Advertising the project at schools, universities, refugee initiatives etc. (processing)

4. Planning and conducting the recruitment rounds (processing)

5 Organizing four workshop formats until June 2024. (planned)

6. Hosting a closing event (planning)

On the short/medium time horizon we aim to find 15-20 female refugee mentees for our program and support them along their journey of integrating into cultural, professional and personal life with safe spaces, workshops and personal guidance. On the long-term basis, we plan to repeat and grow our mentorship program by continuously increasing awareness and incorporating feedback along the way. What are the project's available metrics? Our primary metrics are the number of mentorship relations per year, the number of hosted online and in-person workshop formats and the evaluation scores of our program after each round of feedback. Moreover, we note a secondary, financial metric - the amount of collected funding to kick off the program in the first place (~7000€ in 2023).

The project is co-funded by: JUGEND für Europa - Nationale Agentur Erasmus+ Jugend und Europäisches Solidaritätskorps
