Leaders of the Future Bootcamp (LFB)

Problem Statement: Since after the 4th Industrial Revolution, there is a need to equip young professionals and students with skills for the future.

Target Group: Youth between the ages of 18-30.

Proposed Solution: Enabling the youth to access knowledge about the future of work, skills training and mentorship

Activities: In 2019, sessions were held on the key identified skills of the future as specified by the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2018. The Opening keynote speech was given by Mr. Fasieh Mehta (NIC) who shared learnings from across different sectors, most recently in National Incubation Centre Islamabad. The plenary session on "Trends of the Future" was then held to discuss the future of work and Pakistani youth. Panelists were Sauleha Kamal (Global Shapers Islamabad), Saad Hamid (Global Shapers Islamabad), Usama Khilji (London School of Economics) and Ehsan Gul (UNDP), moderated by Makkiya Javed (Global Shapers Islamabad). Leaders of the Future Conversation was with Samar Hasan (Epiphany). The substantive training sessions were on four main modules: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (Sauleha Kamal), Emotional Intelligence (Maha Kamal), People Management (Zain Rahman - LUMS), Judgment and Decision-making (Komal Shakeel – London School of Economics). Mentoring sessions were conducted according to participants’ professional areas and mentors who specialized in those areas. Closing keynote speech was given by Fatima Mazhar (MIT).

Short-Term Results: Participants (including Global Shapers volunteers) gain access to knowledge about the future of work, skills training and mentorship, trainers and mentors are provided with a platform to disseminate their ideas, and shapers can hone their organizational skills.
