Impact

Level Up

Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City Hub's Level Up project was created in late 2018 to empower Vietnamese youth between the ages of 18-25 in the workplace, especially recent graduates and those currently in their first job who are motivated to improve their skills but lacking opportunities to do so. Understanding that the transition from school-life to work-life can be difficult and there is a gap between expectations from managers and demonstrated skill-level among entry-level employees, Level Up aims to accelerate youth career journeys by building a supportive community and equipping youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st Century. In April 2019, Level Up concluded the first batch of interactive soft skills training workshops with 40 youth being trained on problem solving, critical thinking and communication - three key 21st Century skills. Level Up is currently working on a mentorship program with the aim of mentoring 50 youth in 2020, as well as providing them with more opportunities in career-matching, learning / literacy / life skills training and wellness services.

Goals

Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City Hub believes all youth in Vietnam should have equal opportunities to improve their professional skills and be successful in their careers.

Problem Statement

Level Up strives to provide youth opportunities to advance in their careers faster than their peers and receive better feedback on work performance, which ultimately leads to happier and more productive careers. Level Up also aims to build a give-back and sharing-of-knowledge community and extend reach to more people in need, especially youth in low-income areas, so that everyone with the motivation has the chance to participate.
