In partnership with the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture and Arabian Youth Environment Programme, the Global Shapers will be co-organizing the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) UAE, an initiative by UN YOUNGO.

The conference held on 18th and 19th Oct will involve over 200 youth participants. The event will include interactive sessions and discussions to educate and encourage youth to play a role in civic engagement for COY18 and COP28, and address environmental and agricultural challenges specific to the UAE. 

The LCOY will also involve practical activities such as tree planting and climate fresk. These activities will provide hands-on experiences for participants and promote local action in addressing climate and environmental challenges.

The key objectives of the LCOY are youth engagement and leadership, developing actionable solutions, focusing on local relevance, and providing input into COY and COP28. The event seeks to empower youth, foster collaboration, and inspire innovative solutions to address environmental and agricultural challenges.

The expected long-term outcomes of the LCOY include youth empowerment, focused working groups for UAE youths, project development and implementation, knowledge sharing and capacity building, and network and collaboration building. These outcomes aim to create a sustainable and resilient future by equipping youth with the necessary skills, knowledge, and networks to address climate-related issues in their communities.
