MENA Climate Literacy Initiative Jeddah

The MENA Climate Literacy Project is cross-hub initiative launched by the Jeddah Hub.


Problem Statement: Children and Youth in our city are not aware and not acting about climate change due to lack of education on this global challenge. MENA region is failing in raising capacity in youth and providing climate education. Climate Change Education in MENA region scored on average highly below the global average. (Education International, The Climate Change Ambitions report card report, 2022)


Target Group: Youth 18-30


Project Proposed Solution:


  • Awareness: Increased awareness of climate change and its impact among individuals.

  • Empowerment: Encourage and empower youth to take action on climate change.

  • Culture Change: Foster a culture of climate-consciousness in the region through education and community engagement.

  • Distribute educational materials and resources on climate change, tailored to the needs and interests.

  • Host community events and workshops to raise awareness.

  • Collaborate with local organizations and leaders to expand the reach and impact of the project.

Hub Activities:


  • Training sessions on essentials of climate change.

  • Workshops on how to be a young climate advocate.

  • Large Conferences of youth on climate change.

  • Social Media Campaigns.

Project Short and Long term goals:



  • Short-term: To hold training and educational workshops on climate change aimed at 300-1000 young people in our city on climate change mitigation and adaptation.


  • Long-term: Raise awareness on climate change among 10,000 young people and empower them to take action in the community on climate change.
