MENA Climate Literacy Initiative - Khobar Hub

What is the project's problem statement? Children and Youth in our city are not aware and not acting about climate change due to lack of education on this global challenge. MENA region is failing in raising capacity in youth and providing climate education. Climate Change Education in MENA region scored on average highly below the global average (Education International, The climate change Ambitions report card report, 2022)

What is the project's target group? Youth 18-30

What is the project's proposed solution? Our project will work on:


  • Awareness: Increased awareness of climate change and its impacts among individuals.

  • Empowerment: Encourage and empower youth to take action on climate change.

  • Culture Change: Foster a culture of climate-consciousness in the through education and community engagement.

  • Distribute educational materials and resources on climate change, tailored to the needs and interests.

  • Host community events and workshops to raise awareness.

  • Collaborate with local organizations and leaders to expand the reach and impact of the project.

What are the hub activities for this project?


  1. Conducting interactive climate change workshops for youth.

  2. Organizing community events focused on climate education.

  3. Distributing educational materials tailored to the needs and interests of the target audience.

  4. Hosting skill development sessions on climate action and sustainability.

  5. Collaborating with local schools to integrate climate education into the curriculum.

  6. Implementing awareness campaigns through social media platforms and physical sessions through experts panel discussions.

What are the project short and long-term goals?


  • Short term: To hold training and educational workshops on climate change aimed at 100 young people in my city on climate change mitigation and adaptation

  • Long term: raise awareness on climate change among 100 young people and empower them to take action in the community on climate

Outline the desired outcomes you hope to see: To have between a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 200 young people attending the climate education sessions. This range aims to ensure meaningful engagement and impact while accommodating varying levels of interest and availability.
