Mental Health Matters

In an era where mental health, parenting, self-care, and psychological well-being often remain neglected in remote communities, two remarkable Global Shapers, Hira Farooq and Fatima Rahim, embarked on a transformative journey to uplift the residents of Gagaa Walaa Village. Their mission was clear: to bring knowledge, empathy, and a vision for positive change to one of the remotest corners of our society.

Understanding the paramount importance of mental health in overall well-being, Hira, Fatima and the Peshawar Hub initiated a series of engaging and informative sessions in Gagaa Walaa Village. Their efforts focused on breaking down the stigma associated with mental health and imparting valuable insights into self-care, stress management, and the significance of seeking help when needed.

These sessions were not mere lectures but interactive discussions, fostering a safe space where villagers felt comfortable sharing their experiences. Through these conversations, the project team introduced psychological first aid techniques, equipping the villagers with the skills to provide immediate support to those facing emotional crises. The eagerness of the villagers to learn and engage in open dialogues was evident, marking a pivotal shift in the community's perception of mental health.

The hub arranged three sessions so far at different locations with 50-60 attendees.
