Multiplying Smiles

“MULTIPLYING SMILES”

Since 3rd May, the ongoing communal conflict in Manipur has left many children and families forcibly displaced. These children are the most affected in terms of education, social and  psychological well being and uprooted belongingness.

Multiplying Smiles aims to alleviate the impacts of the crisis on these children through its initiatives focused on promoting literacy, education as well as social and psychological well being.

The project targets children in the age group of 3-15 years.

Key components of the project includes:

· Organise helpful and playful activities and sessions such as story telling, craft making and games by the volunteers while also incorporating transformative and insightful sessions on digital awareness and financial awareness from time to time.

· Collaboration with government for designated stay and reading spaces, setting up mini libraries at relief camps.

· Creating safe havens where children can not only access books but also receive tutoring and guidance.

· Empowering young minds, offering them a chance to cultivate reading habits.

MULTIPLYING SMILES: A Mini Library initiative

With a vision to amplify its impacts, a new phase of the project, MULTIPLYING SMILES: A Mini Library initiative was launched under the theme Resilient readers: Empowering children”

This idea of setting up mini libraries at relief camps was conceived from repeated visits and careful observation of the children at relief camps. This hopes to address the educational needs lacking at a relief camp. The mini library initiative is not only about offering books but is also about nurturing dreams, igniting curiosity and paving pathways for a brighter future.

Through its initiatives, MULTIPLYING SMILES project is on a mission to redefine the role of relief camps, transforming them into vibrant centers of education, skill and hope.
