Pop-Up Festival - Let's Bring EQ to Every Child

Emotions guide our lives in numerous ways. Whether we hide them or express them, most of us are ignorant of the fact that emotions are responsible for our thoughts and behaviours. How we feel affects our learning, creativity, decisions, relations and our personal well-being. Emotions matter for all of us and we know emotionally intelligent learning environments are fundamental for any child or an adult to lead a productive, healthy and fulfilling life. Exploring ourselves and our emotions is a worthy endeavour to direct our lives to reach their greatest potential. Pop-Up Festival is an initiative of UNICEF with 6Sseconds organisation to enhance emotional well-being on the occasion of World Children's Day. The United Nations Organisation declared Children’s Day to encourage societies to support the well-being of children. The Pop-Up Festival is designed in such a way that it helps children and adults participate in activities which bring self-awareness, emotional literacy, self-regulation and social skills which are overlooked in the growing years of children.

Goals:

This project will be undertaken each year (November & December) where the Hub will try to reach out to more and more children to ensure emotional well-being in our community. We successfully completed the project in 2019 by reaching out to 410 children in a two month period. We have a goal of reaching out to 1000 children in 2020. In 2019, we helped children at least acknowledge the different emotions they experience and also supported them in identifying meaningful ways to display these emotions.
