Project Accelerator Mentoring Program

The Project Accelerator Mentor Program was an expert-led vision-based program that gave young people aged 15 to 22 the skills and networks to turn their passion into bold and progressive action. The program engaged project delivery and other experts to teach the 25 participants the new skills, resources and networks they needed to plan a project of their choice from ideation through to evaluation - or to support their advocacy, volunteering or career.

Topics covered over three months of weekly sessions included project ideation, project planning, recruitment, networking, campaigning, advocacy, social media, public speaking and pitching.

The project was delivered in collaboration with Student Voice Network, and engaged expert presenters from a range of Australian youth and impact organisations, including Democracy in Colour, Festival of Action, Money Bites, Amnesty International Australia, Australian Conservation Foundation, and Foundation for Young Australians.

All participants that completed the post-program survey agreed they developed their confidence and the program furthered their understanding of careers and opportunities in the social justice space. Responding participants learnt an average of 7 new frameworks, ideas or tips to support their project or work/career aspirations, with them finding all sessions very relevant or relevant.
