Project Kalakaar

Problem Statement: Sustainable development Goal 4, Quality Education aims at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all. This goal ensures that all girls and boys complete free primary and secondary schooling by 2030.


Target Group: Primary and secondary school students


Proposed Solution: Global Shapers Srinagar Hub has collaborated with Global Shapers Jammu Hub’s flagship Arts in Education - Project Kalakaar led by the JK Arts Foundation. The Shapers support the foundation that aims to drive SDG 4 – Quality Education by developing artistic interventions that supplements the educational curriculum with arts in education solutions promoting higher learner engagement, equitable well-being and instilling 21st century skills such as creativity, confidence and critical thinking in children from underserved communities. The Global Shapers and JK Arts Foundation work closely in the program implementation.


Hub Activities:


  • On-boarded 2 schools.

  • Conducted on ground art workshops in collaboration with Global Shapers Jammu Hub and JK Arts Foundation.


Short Term Goal: On-board 2,000 children from Kashmir by 2025.


Long Term Goal: Work closely with the Global Shapers Jammu Hub and the JK Arts Foundation to scale-up current impact.


Available Metrics:


  • 2 on-ground workshops have been conducted at Candid Higher Secondary School, Srinagar and Firdaous Educational Institute, Baramulla.

  • More than 200+ artworks created by students who attended the art workshops. The aim of the projec team is to involve 2000+ students from both the schools by 2025.
