PROJECT ME

In the recents years, the importance of Mental Health in ensuring a healthy and productive life has increasingly been recognized. According to the World Health Organisation, economic loss in India is estimated at $1.3 trillion dollars due to mental health conditions between 2012 and 2030. Depression is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Particularly, suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds; one person dies due to suicide every 40 seconds estimating around 8,00,000 deaths, without counting the many more who attempt suicide.

Despite the staggering numbers, there is a substantial gap between those who need care and those who have access to care. The reasons can be many, but common reasons include stigmatization, neglect or ignorance. Open discussions need to be encouraged and stigma should be minimized to promote a mentally healthy society. Without a healthy mind, there is not healthy body.

Project Me seeks to conduct awareness sessions to articulate the importance of mental health and motivate the beneficiaries to use self-care strategies for a healthy mind. The project also intends to ensure emotional well-being by building emotional intelligence so that beneficiaries are more aware, more intentional and more purposeful in their lives.
