Rain Water Harvesting

In 2019, India saw something unusual in Chennai. The city literally ran out of drinking water. The Summer Capital of colonial times faced something similar in 2018. Of all the things that could have been done, one is Rain Water Harvesting or Water Recharge. The Global Shapers Indore Hub has taken a step towards the solution. Every company has a CSR Fund in India. We are convincing corporations to utilize the fund in this direction - Water Recharge. In a breakthrough, we have been able to convince the local authority - Indore Municipal Corporation to bear 35%, corporates to bear 50 % with the remaining balance of only 15% being borne by the family benefited.

Our goal is to:

  1. Increase the ground water level with an aim to ensure that the city does not run out of drinking water.

  2. Educate families about Rain Water Harvesting. In the last month we have been able to serve 50 families. In the current scenario it seems we can touch a number anywhere around 300. Each benefited family will have an outlay of 40$.
