Refugee Community Assistance Drive

Problem Statement

The exodus of Veneleuza is the largest in the recent history of Latin America and the Caribbean. Of the approximately 5.1 million refugees and migrants from Venezeula globally, some 4.3 millions are in Latin America and the Caribbean. Migration is driven by: hyperinflation, violence, food and medicine shortages, increased child mortality from malnutrition, return of eradicated diseases such as chloera & malaria.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has caused many Venezeulans in the region to face a loss if income, evictions and increasing stigmatization. Access to sufficient food and nutrition, safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, and safe shelter were reported to be the most pressing needs by refugees and migrants from Venezeula in the Caribbean sub-region.
